The Caique chicks are growing fast and developing their own personalities.
The oldest baby caique has gone to it's new home with a very nice couple who are experienced in hand feeding baby birds.
We have a deposit on a second baby but there is still one available. The baby caiques are $700.00 and will be well socialized
and eating a variety of foods when they are weaned and ready to go their new homes.
UPDATE - March 14th, 2009

Feeding Time - These two sure love to eat and are not picky at all.
They are learning the step up command now and doing well although their balance
is still not that good, they sure do try. They still love to be cuddled and make little
chirping noises as though they are talking to you.
UPDATE: April 6, 2009
One more of the Caique chicks has been sold and will be going to his new home when weaned.

Introducing Sara and Gatsby!
Sara has been to visit her new baby Caique twice now. We have done the DNA test and it's a boy!
Sara has named her new bird Gatsby and what a fitting name for him. Gatsby took to Sara right away and
did great together. I love it when people come to see their babies and start the bonding process before they
take their bird home. I am certain that Sara and Gatsby will be nothing but good for each other. Thank You Sara!
White Bellied Caiques - The Perfect Pet
In the bird world the Caiques are known as the clowns. If hand fed and socialized they
will be the perfect pet. They do not require a lot of attention although this does not
mean you should leave them in their cage 24/7. They love people and like to be taken
out of their cage and played with. However, if you work, they will be perfectly fine all
day and are capable of entertaining themselves if given a variety of toys to stimulate them.
They do like chewing on wood so I would recommend wood toys as well as leather.
The two babies I am hand feeding now love playing with bright colored ping pong balls and
the 1" size plastic beads. Caiques are high energy birds and do play hard. They always
enjoy a nap after play time.
You will not be disappointed with a White Bellied Caique.

We're a little wet - it's feeding time. Looking over the edge of the table.

The chicks are more interested in flying now and are doing very well with their
take offs and landings being able to get exactly where they want to go. So now, every night
we get to fly and get it out of our system before we're settled down enough to eat.
They know the step up command however, the step down command is quite a different story.
They love to sit on your shoulder and just watch what you are doing and look around.

4-11-07 There is not much change in us from last week. We're down to one feeding a day and loving all
the fresh veggies and fruit, seeds and pellets and have even learned how to crack a peanut. Yummmmmy!
ALL 3 OF THESE BABIES ARE SOLD.
